Privacy & Consent

GhostTones, LLC ("GhostTones," "we," "us") built this technology on a simple principle: nothing happens without your permission. This page explains how our technology works, what data we collect, and the choices you have.

Effective Date: July 8, 2026

How GhostTones Technology Works

GhostTones embeds inaudible audio tones into broadcasts, venue audio, streams, and other content. These tones can only be detected by an app or experience that a user has actively opted into.

What our technology does NOT do:

  • It does not record conversations or ambient audio. Detection listens only for our specific tone signatures — it does not capture, store, or transmit voice or environmental sound.
  • It does not run in the background without permission. Tone detection is active only within opted-in apps or experiences, subject to the device permissions you grant.
  • It does not identify you to advertisers. Brands receive aggregated engagement data, not your identity.

Consent Model

Participation is opt-in at every layer:

  • App-level consent — You choose to use an app or experience powered by GhostTones.
  • Device-level consent — Your phone's operating system requires you to grant microphone permission, which you can revoke at any time in your device settings.
  • Moment-level choice — When a tone triggers an offer or action, you choose whether to engage. Detection alone never makes purchases, shares data, or takes action on your behalf.

Information We Collect

Through our website: If you contact us through our site, we collect the information you provide (name, email, company, message) solely to respond to your inquiry. We do not sell this information or add you to marketing lists without your consent.

Through GhostTones-powered experiences: When you engage with a tone-triggered experience, we may collect: the tone event (which signal, when, and general location context such as venue or broadcast), your engagement response (e.g., offer claimed, page opened), and device/app identifiers necessary to deliver the experience.

We do not collect: recorded audio, conversation content, or precise location beyond what the triggering context inherently provides.

How Information Is Used

  • To deliver the experiences you've opted into
  • To provide brands and partners with aggregated, anonymized engagement and attribution reporting
  • To improve the reliability of our technology
  • To respond to inquiries and operate our business

Data Sharing

We share aggregated engagement data with the brand and venue partners whose campaigns you engage with. We do not sell personal information. We may share data with service providers who help operate our platform (under confidentiality obligations) or when required by law.

Your Choices

  • Revoke microphone access at any time in your device settings — this stops all tone detection immediately.
  • Opt out of communications by using the unsubscribe link in any message or contacting us directly.
  • Request access or deletion of your personal information by emailing us at the address below. We will respond within the timeframe required by applicable law.

Children's Privacy

GhostTones experiences are not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this page as our technology and partnerships evolve. Material changes will be reflected in the effective date above.
